Jining Chen is Professor in Environmental Engineering and Vice President for Strategic Planning at Tsinghua University in Beijing, P. R. China. Professor Chen holds an honorary first degree in Environmental Engineering from Tsinghua University (1986) and a PhD in Environmental System Analysis from Imperial College, London (1992).

　　His research interests include environmental systems analysis and integrated assessment, water resources and environmental policy, and non-point sources pollution control. He has been PI or Co-PI for a number of national key projects including National Policy Framework for NSP Control, National Policy and Planning for Wastewater Reuse, Water Quality Assurance of Water Diversion from South to North in China, Water System Design of Beijing Olympic Park, and recently the Environmental Evaluation of the Songhua River Accident.

　　He is deputy chair of National Environmental Science & Technology Committee, vice president of National Environmental Science Association, board member of Chinese Environmental Foundation as well as a number of other scientific committees, professional associations and advisory councils related to water and environment. He is also member of several environmental journal editorial boards including WS&T. He has published over 160 papers, books, chapters and monographs. He is also an owner to several registered environmental software.
