Professor Wenjun Liu’s Brief Introduction

Wenjun Liu currently is a professor and the director of the division of drinking water safety and also a director of the disinfection research center, department of environmental science and engineering, Tsinghua University. He is the chair of the National Technical Committee 299 on Ultraviolet Disinfection Standardization Administration of China, and the board member of the International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA) and the secretary general of Chinese Society of Advanced Treatment for Drinking Water. He is the member of AWWA and IWA and holds some other academic positions in China.

Professor Wenjun Liu received both his Master degree and Ph.D from Tsinghua University on 1995 and 1999 respectively majored in Municipal Engineering, and received his bachelor degree majored in Environmental Engineering from Beijing Technology and Business University (1989). After he received Ph.D, he had worked as a postdoctoral fellow in National University of Singapore (1999.10-2000.5), University of Waterloo, Canada (2000.6-2002.7) and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, U.S.A. (2002.8-2003.6). After that he took a position as an associate professor in Tsinghua University, China.

Professor Wenjun Liu has received 1) the Award of Excellent Teacher of Beijing, 2006, 2) Award of Distinguished Young Scholar, Ministry of Education, 2006, Distinguished Doctoral Dissertation of China in 2001, Ministry of Education, China, the Award (3rd grade) for Progress in Science and Technology, Beijing Municipality, 2000, the Award (3rd grade) for Progress in Science and Technology, China National Education Committee and other academic awards. He has published over 60 journal papers and three academic books, and authored some chapters of two handbooks of design for water treatment processes.
